The Marinara Sauce recipe is truly authentic and dates back many years to the city of Salerno, Italy during the Second World War.
My father, Sergeant James Kenneth Atkinson, along with many other soldiers enjoyed their weekends preparing and eating homemade meals. There was one meal in particular that had the most delicious Marinara Sauce that my father couldn’t resist. He dearly loved the sauce created by his fellow soldier and attempted many times to acquire the recipe. But the soldier held on tight to his recipe.
Until one night… during a $200 dice game, the soldier lost his recipe to my father.
“With a handshake, my father was sworn to secrecy from whom and where he got the recipe”
Since then, the Truly Italian mouth watering Marinara sauce has been enjoyed and shared for several generations in our family.
Inheriting the recipe from her father, Jackie made her traditional Italian sauce just as a hobby for friends and family.
But one day… she fell while working at a diner.
“I hurt my neck and back and just couldn’t do it anymore. That incident gave me time to think and continue to make sauce during my recovery. During that time, I was looking through my taste of home cookbook, and up in the corner was a picture of a grandma that makes barbecue sauce. I called her and told her I made sauce, and we were on the phone for 2 hours. She explained to me everything I had to do to get started. I knew then it was time for me to start selling it.”
Jackie didn’t look back. She doesn’t let her age stop her from continuing her passion. At 72, Jackie is making more Italian pasta sauces than ever. Every time she sees the reaction of someone tasting Truly Italian Sauces, it gives her the motivation to continue to share her family’s traditional Italian pasta sauces with the world.
Now… We take great pride in sharing our tantalizing sauces with all of you.
